What Plastic Parts Means in Loftia
In Loftia, “plastic parts” usually means Plastic Discards, which you get by salvaging Plastic Bottles or Salvaging Crates. Plastic Sheets are a separate, refined material, so check which name your crafting recipe requires before processing your Discards.
Plastic Discards vs Plastic Sheets
| Material | Crafting role | How to get it |
|---|---|---|
| Plastic Discards | Raw plastic used directly in early tool, station and decoration recipes. | Salvage Plastic Bottles or Salvaging Crates. |
| Plastic Sheet | Refined plastic used in further furnishing and equipment recipes. | Process Plastic Discards at a Refining Station. |
Keep the raw material and the refined material separate when planning a craft. Discards can go straight into recipes that ask for them, while a sheet requirement needs the processed item. Holding enough raw plastic does not satisfy a recipe that specifically asks for Plastic Sheets.
Plastic Bottles and Salvaging Crate Yields
| Salvage source | Plastic Discards per salvage |
|---|---|
| Plastic Bottles | 1–2 Plastic Discards |
| Salvaging Crates | 1–3 Plastic Discards |
Salvaging Crates have the higher possible yield, but the ranges overlap, so a crate does not guarantee more Discards than bottles. Both sources supply raw Discards. Choose whichever is convenient along your gathering route, then keep the material raw until you know what you want to craft.
Get Your Opening Plastic and Make the Hammer
Reserve your opening Discards for the Hammer before making sheets. The Hammer dislodges reusable materials from big trash piles, giving those raw Discards an immediate use in your salvaging progression. After that craft, keep a supply of raw plastic for other early recipes instead of refining everything at once.
Refine Discards When a Recipe Needs Plastic Sheets
- Check the material name in the recipe you want to make. Keep Plastic Discards unprocessed for recipes that ask for Discards; prepare Plastic Sheets for recipes that specifically require the refined material.
- At a Level 1 Refining Station, process 5 Plastic Discards into 1 Plastic Sheet. This costs 1 energy and takes approximately 15 seconds.
- Use the finished Plastic Sheet for the furnishing or equipment recipe you are preparing. If the recipe still asks for sheets, additional raw Discards cannot replace the refined material.
Plan your refining around the recipe you actually want to complete. Making sheets is useful when the craft needs refined plastic, but Discards also have direct crafting uses. If you are saving for the Hammer, leave its plastic requirement unprocessed and refine spare Discards separately.
Keep Demo Gathering Separate From Later Districts
Salvaging resources is included in the demo, which starts in Loftia City. Gridfall is the salvaging district planned for Early Access, so keep it separate from your demo gathering route. Plan your salvage trips around the areas available in your current build.
